Can Do Health & Care - Thinking Differently Report December 2020

Communities have always been crucial to supporting people, carers and families, and we have seen that during the Covid-19 pandemic neighbours and communities have come together to support each other in new and creative ways. Our Thinking Differently Together event brought together local leaders from across Suffolk and North East Essex ICS to share their experiences supporting local community action in 2020. It provided an opportunity to reflect on how our learning should reset our vision for the role of our communities in health and care in 2021 and beyond. Our event was attended by over 80 people, and was chaired by Bev Taylor, National Association Social Prescribing & Social Prescribing Lead at NHS England and Improvement. Bev explained that nurturing our community assets is crucial to our recover from Covid-19, health prevention, and to building and feeling part of an inclusive society. Covid-19 has reminded us that we want to be there for each other as friends, neighbours and as part of a community, and find creative ways to work together to build a better future. This event was therefore an important opportunity to hear what is happening locally in Suffolk and North East Essex, and for us to share our experiences and our learning.
